The Heartbreaker

Posted on 2007.10.05 at 20:09
Ah...The Heartbreaker. One of my favorites set in the fictitious town of Freedom, Tennessee. I remember when my son helped me do a little plotting on the book. I think he was about 12. No wonder there is a teenage boy in the story!  Let me know what you think.

by Kim Whalen aka Maddie James

Kensington Precious Gems # 118, 1998

As athletic director for the Parks Department, Lucki Stevenson spends most of her time coaching unruly teenagers instead of giving her heart a much-needed pep talk. And when Dr. Sam Kirk moves back to town, Lucki wants to forfeit the game of love completely! Sam broke her heart once before, but she won’t give him a chance to do it again…

What An Opening Scene!!!

Oh my goodness! When I started reading the first page of The Heartbreaker, I thought I was going to fall off the couch from laughing so hard. Loved the BB in the behind. What a wonderful way to get right into the action.

This story is also very well written and a lovely example of finding what was always right there under your nose...sometimes we're just too blind to see it, but lucky when we notice it just in the nick of time. Just like Lucki and Sam.

Re: What An Opening Scene!!!

LOL! You know, it's funny what inspires you to write things. Right before I started writing The Heartbreaker, my girlfriend's nine-year-old son shot his grandmother in the rear with a BB gun...in the house! Luckily she had on a thick terry bathrob and it didn't penentrate skin. But I thought that was so funny that I wanted to incorporate something like that into the book. I've had so many comments on that opening! Kids do the craziest things....
